Among all of the generations of genuine Nike Sport Band ever released by Apple, has there ever been a true black Nike Sport band that matches the color of the Space Black Stainless Steel Apple Watch? In particular, of the current generation Nike Sport Band, the Anthracite/Black band is actually more grey than black in color and the Obsidian/Black is actually more blue than black in color. Neither of them come ever close to the generic Black Sport Band in actual blackness. Yet, I really like the Nike design because the band is more breathable and less sweaty.

Can someone advise?

The fist color listed for the Nike Sport Bands is the primary color. Anthracite/Black is primarily Anthracite grey with black in the band’s holes and backside. There are several Nike bands with Black as the primary color, such as Black/Cool Grey, Black/White, Black/Volt.

Interesting, I knew it was Major Color/Hole Color for the Nike bands, but I thought my Anthracite/Black was really just Black/Black.

I just held it up to the light and it actually is a dark dark grey outside with black holes & back.

"Anthracite is a chalky and earthy near-black or very dark gray. Anthracite itself is a form of coal used in thermal power stations for generating electricity. "

My Anthracite/Black sport band is indeed a very dark gray but could almost pass as black, especially by the S4 Black. Chalky is a good way to describe the appearance of Anthracite/Black. Black/Cool Gray is closer to true black and especially the S2 Black.

As you can see there's definitely a difference between S2 Black and S4 Black, Anthracite/Black Nike Band is in my opinion, closer to the S4 Black. Black/Cool Gray is closer to the S2 Black.

In the first photo from left to right, S2 Black, Nike Black/Cool Gray, Anthracite/Black, S4 Black and finally Gray.

Second photo are the two Nike Bands, Black/Cool Gray and Anthracite/Black.

Anthracite (coal) is actually very black with a slight bit of reflectivity/luster due to silica content. The reflectivity is somehow misconstrued as gray to some, but the actual color is quite black.

Ugh... I just bought the Anthracite band. I even looked at it on while at the Apple Store and I swore it looked black. But when I got home and looked at it. It was indeed more grey than gold. And it's more noticeable on an aluminum gold Apple Watch 4 and now I'm wondering if I should just return it :/

Honestly, for the longest time I thought Anthracite was black as coal, no pun intended. It's only when you compare it to other Apple bands that it looks lighter but it really is black, especially at a distance. It's as black as it gets with the genuine bands available now so I'd just use it and not sweat it. Unless of course you're truly unhappy with it.
