Down south
Just thinking about travel and paring down what would have to go with me - if I have an iPP charger, could I get something that would be the USB-C on one end and regular USB on the other that I could use to plug my watch cord into that iPP charger.

Paring down travel items is liberating, but having to prioritize charging times of critical devices can be a hassle.

Yeah that’s true, although the phone is never really an issue when I’m traveling because I keep it plugged in to use Apple car play. The watch charges pretty quickly, so I can usually stick it on a charger right when I wake up and have it pretty much charged by the time I’m loaded up and ready, and then the iPP can charge during the night.

Obviously on a long trip, I’d bring a couple chargers, but just for a few days when I’m packing light, it would be really nice to not have so many.

Oh okay, I was thinking of a usb-c to usb piece so I could use the Apple Watch charger I already have
The USB-C Apple Watch charger works great plugged into the actual iPad Pro too. Way more convenient than trying to plug it into the wall charger. That is what the 0.3 m charging puck is for I think.

I bought a Satechi puck that direct plugs into USB-C after seeing it launched. I was a little bit p’d when it arrived without a short extension it was supposed to come with and when I queried I was told Apple asked them not to include the extension because of the new 0.3m USB-C first party product.

Neither company comes out well from that story, but I like the direct attach approach for full-on minimalism. I can charge from my MBP, even while it’s charging (not if it was a base 13” of course as the puck obscures the second port on the same side), or the iPad Pro or it’s charger.

Does the USB Charger charge the watch faster, or is it just the convenience of just using the one USB C charger?

This is probably my favorite apple watch non-band accessory:

This is a great and very convenient charger. I was lucky enough to purchase it on the first day and got the cable with it. I guess they don’t come with the cable anymore but you don’t really need it. I’m using an iPP 12.9 and if it’s lying flat or upright the adapter works fine.
