Is there kind of network other than WiFi?

I was out in public and on the WiFi Networks page in Settings and in the Choose a Network list I saw a weird symbol I'd never seen before.

On the left was the network name and then on the right there was the padlock symbol but instead of the concentric arc symbol for the WiFi next to it there was an icon that looked like two interlocked chain-links.
    I really wish I'd done a screen-grab but unfortunately.....

    Anybody know what that is?
I'm running beta-6 if it matters.

That's the logo for personal hotspot. I have it when I share my connection to my iPad.

That is Personal Hotspot introduced in iOS 4.3 back in March.

You were more likely near someone who had their device enabled for HotSpot.
