iPod touch Is there something wrong with my ipod?

Hey guys, I have been trying to jailbreak my ipod touch 32 gb since sunday. I did everything that has been to told to do so, but still failed to jailbreak it. is there something wrong with my ipod? everytime I tried restoring it on itunes, it always says this
"The iPod "Ipod's name" could not be restored. This device isn't eligible for the requested build"

I even downloaded the blackra1n and 3.1.2 firmware on this website(http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/). I tried restoring it(shift+restore) but nothing worked.

PLEASE HELP ME!!!
