Went to the Passeig de Gracia store in Barcelona at around 2:30pm and walked out with an iPhone 11 Pro Max in Midnight Green and 256GB.

The store itself was super crowded and they were doing an iOS 13 live class but no line for walk ins whatsoever.

The line in Manhattan Beach CA. I have an 1130-1200 reservation. Been in line 20 minutes and have not moved at all. They are letting walk ups in the store before reservations. It’s insane. Walk up line on the left of the store front. Reservations on the right and wrapping around the wall to where I am.

I went there last year and waited almost an hour for my pick up. Today I’m going to the Apple store in Sherman Oaks with a 5-5:30 pick up time. Keeping my fingers crossed for a quick process

I wouldn't put much stock in the website iStockNow for the Retail stores. My local Apple store does not have In Store Pickup showing as an option, but just like years past I called Apple's support number and they can check your local store's inventory levels, and they confirmed with me on the phone they have the models in stock that I wanted (iPhone 11 Pro Max 256GB Silver or Space Gray) Online orders placed today dont deliver until the 2nd week in October, but Apple controls this on purpose. Big lines create more buzz and are more likely to end up on the news, creating more demand and interest. :) The lines may be long but many stores do have inventory.

Also, if history is any guide, the Apple retail stores receive DAILY deliveries of the new iPhone.

They're gonna make eleventy gazillion of them. Wait till the madness dies and walk in and get one. It will work just like the ones being bought today.
Agree! Why bother when you can just order it online and get it when you get it. My first time in years I did not pre-order at second one and first year not getting the latest and greatest on launch day. I am thoroughly enjoying watching the madness from the sidelines.

Knowing me I will eventually cave and pick one up, but like you said, I'll wait until closer to the holidays and grab one online when the madness dies.

IStockNow is showing barely any stock for the Pro's this year. Apple's own website says none of the 4 stores near me have what I want in stock. On the other hand, AT&T does so I guess I have to go suffer and deal with them instead.

I do not think the launch day inventory was updated well this year. My local stores show no stock according to online, but I happened to be in the Mall around 1pm and could have easily gotten a Pro. I saw people in the walk-up line requesting and getting 256gb Pros.

(Suburbs just outside Toronto). I showed up at just before 11 am, joined the walk ins line and was walking out with my 256 gb iPhone Pro Max at 11:50. I was surprised at how quickly the whole process was.

The walk ins line only had 1 or 2 people in it when I left at just before noon.

I went to the Mall of Georgia to do a trade in. The line was insane, maybe 50-100 people. This was around 2PM.

Luckily I didn’t have to wait in that. I was in and out in 10 minutes but I’m sure some of those folks waited over an hour just to get in the store.

They were doing this class for taking selfies in the middle of the rush this morning. The presenter’s audio was piped all over the store even though he had no audience.

It was like Apple was subjecting everyone into a forced lesson that the store was offering lessons. It was super weird and unnecessary.

Very quiet at my local Apple store here in Bristol, UK. Not many people walking in and purchasing, the lines were longer for those of us who had reservations.

I am 30 minutes early to my reservation. Line is not bad at all considering this is the only Apple Store within a full hour.

At the Tampa International mall 10:30 pickup, line was crazy long. Pic is of the walk up line across the hall from the preorder queues, it was over 100 people long. Not the best pic sorry. I got in line at 10:15ish and didn’t get to the genius until 11:22am. Out the door at 11:47am without ever opening the box. It was insanely crazy. Apple rep at the front said the walk ups haven’t moved all morning, preorders are first.

The “genius” was complaining while we waited for my phone to show up from the back -“store is too tiny, Apple needs to move us, this is nuts, people are clueless, this store needs a remodel” on and on. I agree this store needs more space, any given day you walk in and it’s a sardine can.

I arrived at the Edinburgh store at 9.45am today without a appointment and was served within 10 minutes of arrival. A very small queue.
