If I add up the wired, active, inactive and free ram figures from istat in my 2.4ghz aluminum macbook, it only comes up to be 2.73gb, I replaced a 1gb module for a 2gb that I bought from crucial about 1 week ago. I've restarted the computer with no success.

    Any ideas?

When you look in your Activity Monitor, what does it show?

Your video card steals 256MB of ram from the system.

Thanks. I was wondering why my new computer with 4 GB of RAM was showing up as 3.7 GB as well. Now I know.
