iTunes doesn't recognize certain songs..

I have a number of downloaded MP3 files that iTunes does not recognize. I've dragged them from users/my music to music/itunes/itunes music/artist and when i open itunes it shows one of the 15 songs. Any ideas?

have you tried opening them manually? just like selecting the bunch and hitting command o?
