Long time MacRumors reader but first post, thanks ahead for the help here.
So, I just recently added my friends iTunes library (Finder says its size is 51.73GB) to my library from my external harddrive.
What's weird though is before adding all of the songs from my harddrive my library size was about 20GB. Now, after adding what finder says is 51.73GB of music, iTunes says my library is only 55.99GB (if I right click on my "iTunes Music" folder it says its size is 62.67GB - not quite sure why the difference).
While the number of songs did increase to what seems to be the right number (as I now have over 8,597 songs), why is there a discrepancy with the size of my library? The math just doesn't add-up, where did about 20GB of the file size of my library go? I still have the songs in my library. Did I lose some songs from my friend's library while transferring them over? Or, does iTunes simply not display your library size accurately (that's kinda what I'm thinking, but I dunno)?
Hopefully this wasn't too confusing, let me know if it is.
Thanks so much!
