Hello,

for a while now, I have noticed, that when I delete apps on iTunes (latest version), and sync my iphone and ipad, it doesn't remove the deleted apps from the device?

I then have to go into the iPhone and iPad and manually delete them again from the device?

ive never had to do this before... very bizarre,

Stuart

same problem here.

let's say I install 10 free apps to test, and they sync to both my ipad and iphone. Then I want to uninstall from everywhere, I have to :
1) first sync all to ensure no hick-ups
2) delete from itunes library
3) delete from iphone by hand
4) delete from ipad by hand
5) sync again just to be sure they are all gone.

In the past, i only had to do steps 2 and 5...

first world problems i know - but it used to work, so whats up apple? (I never see the Do Not Transfer button anymore)

I find I have to delete them from my iphone, then back it up to itunes and the deleted app will no longer appear on iphone or in itunes.

no, and I don't think that's ever been the case? At least on my setup.. if I delete on the iphone, its still in itunes.

What I what is to delete in itunes (in my mind, the main source) and then have them removed from the phone and ipad.

That's always been the case for me, and since it is working flawlessly for me I suggest you don't dismiss what I said. ;)

im not dismissing what you've said... im just wondering how we can both have different outcomes.. when you say you 'back it up'... what do you actually do?

after deleting an app on the iphone, if i then sync to itunes... well, its still in itunes...

Delete app on iPhone when I don't want it.
Later in my day/week/life, plug iPhone into iTunes for whatever reason.
Press sync - syncs to my library and backs up my iPhone.
Deleted app no longer in iTunes in the apps tab, also still not on my iPhone.

I thought that was how it used to work but im not sure.

For me, I'd prefer to have it the way you describe since we have 5 iOS devices that we sync to a central computer to keep apps/photos updated. But (based on the casual users I encounter) then peoples usage patterns have changed and most users rely entirely on the cloud to update and manage their iPhones. So if you think about it, it makes sense (for them) to keep the app management separate because not many people use their computer to host 100GB of old iOS Apps anymore.

This does not work for me either. The deleted apps that I deleted from my iphone or ipad are still showing in the itunes apps tab after I sync'ed my devices numerous times..

Must be a setting you have wrong then because this has worked for me since my iPhone 3G and just tested it now and still works.

Do you sync any other i Devices with the iTunes account?
Maybe having several different devices previously synced and having different apps per device has something to do with it...

I did have an iPad 3 but that is long since gone, maybe before i got my mac mini too, that could be a factor in it too.
