I've got 1804 songs in my iTunes library, and when I select all (Apple-A)and drag them to the iPod (this have been done many times with the same result), the iPod is always short by one (1) song!! It's hasn't always been like this though. Anyone have any suggestions as to solving this? Please help! Thanks in advance.

why not just set it to automatically compare & update your playlists? Then you'd get everything, and there'd be no dragging & dropping...

If for some other reason you have to do it manually - maybe you have a duplicate song somewhere in your collection, and the iPod realizes it when it copies over. Have you figured out which track it's dropping? That could answer all of your questions.

<edit> As I think more about this, is it possible you have a streaming server as one of your tracks, such as an online radio station? they won't copy over, but will count in the overall track count in iTunes.

If if turns out to be a radio server, how can I find that track? If it's by kind, there nothing, just AAC and one Protected AAC (which IS on my iPod).

iTunes will refuse to copy over a song that it doesn't believe that your iPod can read, so you will need to just figure out which song it won't transfer. Since you can see what songs are on the iPod by clicking on it, you can do that to compare the listing with what iTunes has as your music library. If you have any files that Quicktime can read that iTunes has in the playlist (but which aren't iPod readables), those are usually the culprit. It is also possible that you have a song in your library that simply doesn't exist on your computer anymore. If you do an automatic update however, iTunes should tell you which (single) song isn't being transfered (it gives a generic message for multiple missing songs).
