No more import...no more drag and drop....looked on apple site and did not find an answer..
Anyone have an actual solution.????

mp4... u mean video files? you may have to convert an mp4 that's audio only to mp3 (but someone else feel free to correct this if i'm wrong)...

If the files last name is MP4, then it might not work with import. But if you rename the last name to M4A, it should work. I have multiple M4A files in my library that I imported "Drag'n'Drop"

You can change multiple files last name by selecting them and then secondary clicking one, select "Rename # elements", then use replace text, and replace MP4 with M4A.

MP4 and M4A are the same type of files so they don't need to be converted.

right, not what your topic stated. have you tried importing into itunes, converting to mp3? is it a bunch of files, or just one that's the problem? and did it work before (and if so, what changed?)

No...I do not want the old format MP3.....what changed is going to High Sierra....

you've rebooted? (sorry, have to ask that)..

so, you updated to HS and now m4a's won't import into itunes? have you tried moving those files to another folder (ie music, or documents) and importing from there? (in case the issue is importing from the desktop).

otherwise, consider converting to AAC; you won't lose any quality, and you can get back to listening to music (instead of struggling to import it.)..!

I dont think your suggestion is a real answer to my issue......m4a is the same as AIFF....some day in 25 years perhaps there will be standization...

Did not know that...I used software I bought called PIEZO to record from youtunes...and this is the format to puts out....there is nothing in preferences that directs it to record in AIFF.....makes me angry....

Piezo is a simplified version of Rogue Amoeba's Audio Hijack. The latter app can record losslessly compressed or uncompressed audio, whereas Piezo only offers lossy compression (MP3 or AAC). I don't think it matters in this case, considering the audio quality of the source.

As to why iTunes won't import your aac/m4a-files, I have no idea. Can you do it via QuickTime Player (File - Export - iTunes)?

I'd suggest you try the free app "ALL2MP3".
Use the "highest quality" setting.

Just drag the m4a songs and "drop them" into ALL2MP3's window.
You'll see what to do next.

WARNING! TAKE HEED!
For some reason, the installer for ALL2MP3 will also install adware UNLESS you take the extra care to set it up properly during the install sequence.
Shame on the folks who put this out.
You CAN get it to install without the adware.
I don't know why they did this -- sure way to scare folks away from an otherwise-excellent app...
