Ive Forgotten My Root User Password, How Do I Get A New One If I Havent Got The Old?

i have mac osx 10.4.8 on a g4 i book, i need to sign in as the root user but i have forgotten the previous name and password, what can i do please help

1. Insert OS X Installer DVD
2. Boot off of said disc
3. Reset Password from Utilities
