I've had it with these 'This computer’s local hostname is already in use on this network' messages.

Does anybody know how I can stop my Mac displaying an utterly unhelpful message every time it wakes up from sleep:

"This computer’s local hostname "INSERT NAME HERE" is already in use on this network."
I've done multiple Google searches, tried every fix under the sun (changing my computer's name via System Prefs AND via Terminal, disabling wifi and only using wired connection, etc.), but the error still pops up every time I resume my machine.... It's only been happening for a few weeks, possibly since just after I got a NAS drive if that's any connection....??

Anybody know why this happens or how to stop it???

What version of OS X are you using, on which computer, and how are you connected to your network?

OS X El Capitan, and connected via Ethernet (but I also keep my wifi on because I need it to enable the 'Convergence' feature for sending messages from desktop via my iPhone etc...). I thought it might be this dual-connection thing, but it didn't stop happening even after I disabled wifi, and it wasn't happening months ago when I had both network cards enabled either....

It's also possible it could have started happening since around the time I started using the El Cap beta.....
