Jeff Sessions is key to Trumps future, hypotheses.

Trump gets support from Republicans because he was voted in and to some degree helped keep Republicans in office by his appealing message.

Since then Trump's actions and words have greatly irritated Republicans and eroded support for the party. There is some visible circling of wagons around the party against Trump.

Jeff Sessions was a powerful Senator and despite controversy was strongly supported by this fellow Senators. His early endorsement of Trump was the reason Trump was even taken seriously, so his appointment as Attorney General was seen as a reward and something the Senate Republicans where proud of.

That was 5.5 months ago, and the optimism is all but gone.

I think if Sessions is forced out of office, the Senate will completely turn on Trump, ending any chance of signing any major law or much of anything else.

Not just the senate, but a lot of voters too, especially in Alabama. Which I think is why we are now hearing chatter about him staying in the administration but just in a different role. Might be the only way for Trump to save face on this one and make everyone at least somewhat happy.

I don't know if it will become impossible for Trump to get anything passed in the Senate, but it will make things a lot rockier than they already are. Trump's treatment of Sessions is yet another unforced error that has offended plenty of Sessions' friends.

Trump is making more and more enemies. And the best part is...he just can't help himself.

It will be impossible for him to get anything passed in the Senate, he's in the wrong branch of government if he wanted to create laws.

Hey now, the president can have a significant effect on getting laws passed. Obama got health care through in his first term in office. Bush 43 got his "no child left behind" act through; Clinton pushed through a major overhaul of welfare as well as creating NAFTA.

So yeah, presidents can certainly make their mark through their efforts to create new laws.

Presidents announce agendas all the time that their allies on Capitol Hill introduce as bills.

But you have to have allies.
