I wonder how Trump will spin this or if he'll tweet about it....

    https://finance.yahoo.com/news/live-march-jobs-report-120516762.html

The March jobs report is out and it’s a miss.

Economists had expected the report to show 185,000 jobs were created in March while the unemployment rate was expected to fall to 4%, according to estimates from Bloomberg. March’s report is also a big slowdown from the 313,000 jobs created in February and represented the fewest jobs created in six months.

I think eventually you get to a point where every job is filled with people wanting to work basically, right?

I believe the population is still growing with more people entering the workforce all the time, so you want to see new jobs to absorb those new workers. Also we are still a ways away from replacing all the jobs that were lost in the recession despite the long recovery we have been having.

That’s fine. We need a slow down rather than get hammered with a crash.

If it's something that might embarrass him, he'll just ignore it and fly back to Mar-a-Lago for another day of golf.

FAKE NEWS. Clearly, those fake Obama numbers, which turned real when Trump took over, are THROTTLING forward like never before. When will fake news CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC, PBS, WaPo, etc. get real like Fox, Breitbart and unscripted, truthful Sinclair broadcasters?

Unemployment rate is steady and wages increased. Can't expect to gain jobs forever at 4% unemployment.

This is a valid point, and let’s hope Trump keeps the momentum. I have my doubts, but the numbers are about as good as can be expected, the goal now is to maintain.

Obama highs as reported fell quite a lot during the last couple years of his presidency. They were below 6% as of 2014 according to the BLS, which precedes Trump. As I mentioned, a consistent complaint during Obama's administration. What changed to make them more credible today? Trump regularly complained that they were inaccurate prior to his own administration. As soon as he took office, he bragged about those same (supposedly fake) numbers.

U6 numbers did near 20% at one point. http://www.macrotrends.net/1377/u6-unemployment-rate

Complaints in Obama's later years were mostly about wage growth, ie. people were getting jobs but they were ****** ones. Luckily Trump came and inspired a nation.

It sounds like you're rooting for Trump to lose.

Its one thing to hate the president, but even people you hate can still work for the good of the country, why root against that?

    17.1% is not “near 20%”.

And, in fact, Trump once claimed that the real unemployment rate was as high as 42 percent, which is pretty clear evidence that he’s either a congenital liar or an idiot (or, more likely, both).

No, I remember that you specifically complained that Obama shouldn't get credit for low unemployment rates because the stats were tracked in an unsatisfactory way. What has changed?

U6 rates are lower than ever as well, Trump told you that you would get tired of winning, it's come true.

17% is pretty damn close to 20%

I'm sorry, how does that answer the question? You had a problem with the way these numbers were tracked under Obama and didn't think he should get credit. Why does Trump get credit? Has the way the numbers are tracked been changed?

Is it the fact that he's a self made billionaire that rose through the ranks to become the champion of the common people? Or do you just hate successful people?
    --- Post Merged, Apr 7, 2018 ---
No, but the number of people hiding on the sidelines has. As stated elsewhere in the thread U6 numbers were massively bloated under Obama to make the official measure look better, nearly 20% at one point. Now it's 8 and 4.

As the economy recovered under Obama, U6 steadily dropped. It was 12% by the end of his last term. So Trump managed to shave another 4% off, continuing the trend that was already underway. Probably the massive (and unaffordable) tax cuts helped, at least in the short run.

Edit: Oops, sorry -- looks like it was 8.1% by the end of Obama's last term.
