Well, she's powerful enough now to have no concerns about her bankability or career as producer or director...

In other news: Elton John comes out as being gay. ;)

WHAT?! I'm so behind in the celebrity gossip... I never knew there were speculations about her sexual orientation. If the relationship lasted 15 years, how come she was pregnant a few years back?
Good on her for having the courage to finally come out though.

WOW I must be a bad judge of people because I honestly never thought that she was. Then again I don't follow celebs like some and personally do not care what way she swings.

    Honestly, who cares?

I think she is a great actress but that she is being glorified for "coming out" is plain stupid.

If people wouldn't talk about it or teach their kids think about the differences then the issues would largely go away.

This is just as idiotic as the concept of "hate crimes".

Seriously, Jodie, you go girl! I applaud you for for not making a big deal out of it and please keep making great movies.

I'm just speculating, but I'll bet every girl he wrote a letter too and didn't answer him is a lesbian. :D

There's this amazing thing called artificial insemination...;-)

It's actually not uncommon. Being pregnant does not mean being with a man.

The major reason people speculated was because she had two kids without any boyfriends in the picture, and constantly was seen with her female "friend". It was kind of an open secret. Next up, maybe Anderson Cooper will finally come out....

Please, for the love of god, do not ever use the phrase "lesbians can breed" ever again. It makes us sound like farm animals or something.

    :p That's true.

Madonna is gay too. I've known that since the 80s.

I find it somewhat uplifting when such celebrities shun the media feeding frenzy and just do their own thing.
It's nobody's business but her own what her preferences are. Let the woman live in peace..

    obvious?

I have pretty good "gadar" myself, but I don't see how anyone really needs it in Jodie's case.

Perhaps the only people who didn't know she was gay are people that don't know, or have any gay friends, or aren't gay themselves?

I certainly don't see how anyone could be shocked or surprised. Even as a child actor in Disney stuff, she always played the tom-boy characters, and has always had a whole "mixed gender" thing going on since before she was even old enough to have it matter.

I'm glad she finally came out, because watching her in movies as a romantic interest of male characters has always made me kind of uncomfortable.

Kind of like watching Donny Osmond try to be "edgy." ;)
