Democrats will re-elect Trump if they go down this path. The way to get rid of Trump is at the ballot box not through impeachment, especially when the senate will never convict. Of course Trump is going to resist cooperating with investigations. He’ll take it all the way to the Supreme Court in the hopes it will never get resolved before the next election. Democrats need to get over the fact Hillary Clinton was such an awful candidate she couldn’t beat Donald freaking Trump and focus on beating him in 2020.

Talk about an misleading headline (your sure your not a criminal mexi midget?).

So what he says is that congress will investgate Trump over things not covered by Mueller.

On the hypothetical that Trump would block that investigation (which would atleast be an abuse of his powers) Congress should resort to impeachment.

These guys spread so much misinformation while calling real reporting "fake news". MR is quickly becoming a right wing wasteland.

The idea that pursuing impeachment will hurt the Democrats in 2020 is pure conjecture. There is no evidence to support that notion. And, in any event, it is important to draw a line and make the case that Trump’s conduct is unacceptable and will be dealt with by Congress. That said, Biden’s support for impeachment is conditioned on further bad acts by Trump, which is far too little, as far as I’m concerned.

Agree 100%. The Dems are playing a stupid game with a stupid prize at the end.

They need to be focusing on what they have to offer in 2020 that will be better than what we have today, and that something can’t be “he/she isn’t Donald Trump”.

They can't help themselves.... If they keep at it they'll hand him 2020 on a silver platter. This will result in more screaming at the sky and emotional support squirrels being in short supply...

    Trumps impeachment will damage the
Democratic Party in the polls. However it is the right thing to do.

What evidence do you have that impeachment will harm the Democrats at the polls? Republicans impeached Clinton over far less and Al Gore still lost in 2020.

1 & 2 are more than enough to keep trump in office 3 is just icing on the cake.

If the Dems did impeach Trump, then that doesn't mean that the Dems will "have nothing else to offer" for the 2020 election!

I agree with some but not all of your commentary. If you think going after Trump for his behavior is still some sort of sour grapes over Hillary losing, you're helping a narrative which deflects from his abhorrent behavior, actions and lies.

    A few thoughts:

    - if tables were turned does anybody believe that any GOP hopeful would take the possibility of impeaching a POTUS Hillary of the table at this time? She lost and going after her still seems to a top priority for many on that side.

    - who was the last president that won on just positive notes? Pegging down the other side is the core of US politics. One might say Hillary and Romney did a great part of that deal themselves and McCain just had to carry 8 years of W as baggage.

    - Biden won't run against Trump for quite a while and going soft on Trump sure won't be a winning bid against the other 19(?) democrats running.

    - one has to ask why it is always those on the right insisting that going after Trump is a loosing strategy? Could it that they know that there is enough legitimate fuel to keep that fire going till election? And that while it might hurt the democratic candidate, Trump's irrational responses might be even worse.

Not every person who dislikes Trump is (or was) a Hillary Clinton fan. Or a Democrat, or a 'Liberal', or a Socialist/Globalist/illuminati/etc.

Especially me as an outsider from the UK. I have no political motive for disliking Trump.

People that voted for Trump as a 'lesser of 2 evils' candidate, then fair enough i can understand why. But that doesn't mean they have to still support him nowadays, cos Hillary is out the picture. She is gone, get over it. The 2020 election shouldn't become an election between 'corrupt person A' and 'corrupt person B', because one of those is no longer in the game.

Trump should be investigated, cataloged, labeled and documented for legal action the day he leaves office. If you are a pragmatist, impeachment today is a moral exercise that requires a lot of energy and will not result in any meaningful change at the White House and it might actually help Trump rally support from the bankrupt Right, something I don't want to see happen.

I won’t say that an impeachment proceedings would re-elect Trump, but why waste the effort? The state of political fracture in the US is truly alarming, that such and immoral, incompetent, mentally suspect individual could be elected in the first place, but that is where we are.

It’s not misleading at all. Biden knows Trump is going to fight these investigations all the way to the Supreme Court.

Al Gore won the popular vote. He lost the election by a small number of votes in Florida.
