I decided to pair my HomePod 2's with my new iPad Pro. In a testimony on how much I like them I discovered they were unplugged and have been for who knows how long. I will be frank about them. They are the biggest hunks of junk Apple apple has in the Apple Store, not to mention fantastically over priced. The fact they do not yet have a dedicated app of their own to set them up is one of the biggest factors of their hunk of junk status. They are not bad sounding speakers as long as you understand they are near field speakers. The Apple video's showing their room filling sound are complete bovine sactology. I have mine in a stereo pairing. as long as they are close by on a desktop they are reasonably OK. But the inability to control them is frustrating. Its Siri keeps butting in when unwanted.

Interested. If you hate them so much I'll take those ugly boat anchors off your hands for cheap.

It is sort of a love hate thing. The spatial audio they have is wonderful but Siri keeps butting in were it isn't wanted. When I do ask it to play something is usually gets it wrong. We will see how they work with the new iPad. Maybe Apples Augmented Reality improvement in Siri will help it out. But what the HomePod's need is their own App.

What would it do? Not trying to be smart here, just genuinely curious.

The Home app can be used to add them and tie them to your home. Then Control Center - Music tile - Control Other Speakers and TVs - Select HomePod - Play music.

Here is an example. This App operates the FiiO BT DAC/Amps.

I configured the HomePods 2 with the new iPad Pro........OH MY GOD!!!...........🙀 This is a match made in Heaven. It is apparent it the HomePods did not work very well with the Mac Studio, and its Musical Siri was not up to my eclectic music tastes. The Problem with the Mac Studio is it is hooked to my 1000 watt home theater system, it is presently a 2.1 system with includes a 12" Klipschorn subwoofer it just has more of everything, the HomePods kept butting in. I use Siri for spelling, it would ask the iPhone how to spell something and the HomePods would butt in an verbally spell it. The iPhone would display the correctly spelled word and I would type it directly from its screen. I would actually like to turn off Siri with the HomePods. They are working great with the new iPad Pro. These HomePods still could use their own App, but they work a much better with my iPad.

I now realized why these HomePods were silent. In one of my angered commands when they butted in must have been taken as the command "Hey Siri shut off Siri"
