Reading the Post your Apple "Switch" story... thread reminded me of when I wrote my own switch story. It was back in March or so when Apple had the "Bought an iPod and switched to Mac? Tell us your story" thing going on. I was very happy with my month old Powerbook and my switch (technically switch back, my family had exclusively used Macs until about 8 years ago) was in part because of how much I loved my iPod, so I sent Apple a nice long story all about how much I loved my iPod and how it inspired me to get a Powerbook, and how much I loved my Powerbook, how much better it was than my Dell laptop, etc.
I thought that was the end of that, but a few days later I got an email from somebody at Apple's Research named Meghann. She wanted to know if she could call me, and asked for my phone number and a good time to reply. She did indeed call a few days later, and after getting permission from my mom to talk to me (since I was 16 at the time), she basically asked me to tell my story to her again, and asked if there were any cool iPod or Mac stories I had to share. I told her that my iPod and a Belkin battery attachment (the one you put 4 AA batteries in) basically kept me sane during the aftemath of Hurricane Charley (I live in Punta Gorda, where it directly hit). I could listen to my iPod and escape the destruction and uncertainty around me. She seemed to like my story.
The next day she sent an email asking me for a picture of myself with an Apple product and even a video if possible. Unfortunatly, it was only a few days before I left for a trip to New Zealand, and with packing and completing school work, I kind of forgot about a picture and video. There wasn't any time to think about ir when I got back from my trip either.
In fact, I just actually remembered the whole exchange while reading people's switcher stories (I still have the emails, so I was able to go back and see the specifics), and I was just wondering if this happened to anyone else?
With the request for a picture and video, my best guess is that they were perhaps either researching or planning on doing another set of switcher adds. I have to wonder now if I missed my chance at fame and stardom, haha.
