Hi all,

I have a 2008 iMac with the infamous 8800GS and lately I am having a number of kernel panic. The last kernel panic prior to today was about 1 week ago but I was too busy to post here. Today I had another kernel panic and I have no idea what is causing the problem. I am suspecting that it might be the graphics card but I don't know how to read the crash log.

I would appreciate if you could help me out and pin point the likely cause of the kernel panics.

Thanks

I would recommend removing first:

com.attotech.driver.ATTOiSCSI 3.4.1b1 and any other associated software and then test.

And also look at:

com.rim.driver.BlackBerryUSBDriverInt 0.0.68

as a possible cause. Also I would STRONGLY suggest studying and using XLab's

http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/kernelpanics.html

to learn how to troubleshoot and locate where your KP is coming from.

Hi all,
Today I had another kernel panic and I have no idea what is causing the problem. I am suspecting that it might be the graphics card but I don't know how to read the crash log.

I would appreciate if you could help me out and pin point the likely cause of the kernel panics.

Thanks

Certainly seems bluetooth-related, not graphics-related. Are you using any third-party bluetooth devices? Keyboards? Mice?

Thanks I will follow the instructions to try and figure out the problem. The problem I have is that the kernel panics aren't frequent enough to know if it was a software problem.

I have a Magic Mouse, an Apple trackpad and an Apple wireless keyboard always connected. I also have paired a cordless home telephone from Siemens. However I only sync the telephone maybe 3 times a year and I leave it's bluetooth connection switched off. The last time I synced it, it was about 3-4 months ago.

Just asking are you saying that it is bluetooth related from the backtrace?

I am a noob at reading log files and kernel panics. I really need to learn.

Thanks both of you for your help.

Yes, it looks that way to me.

The panic was triggered by the instruction at 0xffffff7f813942ad. It was of type 14=page fault, registers, which indicates an attempt to read from a non-present page in memory. The instruction at 0xffffff7f813942ad lies within
com.apple.driver.IOBluetoothHIDDriver(4.0.1f4) @0xffffff7f8138d000->0xffffff7f8139efff. We also see "BSD process name corresponding to current thread: blued" --- The Mac OS X bluetooth daemon.
