Remember when they told us the grown-ups were now in charge and they would be governing. Seems to me the second in line to be PResident should be able to communicate in English.

Probably good for the GOP since McCarthy doesn't appear to be very bright, politically speaking.

The best thing about train wrecks are the explosions, the worst thing about them is the carnage it leaves behind. I wonder how the clean up for this mess will be.

Or not blurt out that the Benghazi hearings are just a political ruse to sabotage the Clinton campaign.

Who would have thought the Benghazi Committee would have brought down McCarthy before Hillary?

This could very well get a lot messier first. This increases the chances that someone more extreme could get the job, which in turn increases the likelihood that there'll be a shut down. Democrats must be salivating at the prospect of this pre-2016 election gift. Of course, the GOP will put this country through hell first.

Kevin McCarthy to Rich Lowry of the National Review:

    Lowry: Is House governable?

McCarthy: I don't know. Sometimes you need to hit rock bottom.

Seems like only yesterday that the Young Guns (McCarthy, Cantor and Ryan) were the future of the GOP. Oops.

Just make Louis Gohmert speaker, and be done with it.

Good, he barely made any sense when he spoke. Silence is his friend.

Obviously, they're going to elect a Tea Party loon who will orchestrate a govt. shutdown and try to defund PP (which is still very popular despite the videos). They have just handed the election to the Democrats.

    McCarthy says,

"Let’s be very clear: Benghazi is not political. It was created for one purpose and one purpose only: to find the truth on behalf of the families of the four dead Americans. Period.… The integrity of Trey Gowdy, the integrity of the work that has been done has never come into question and it never should be. Stop playing politics … I could have been more clear in my description of what was going forward, and I’ve stated that."

    Republicans named McCarthy, hmmm……

They may have handed the election to the Democrats, but no matter who the democrats elect the house will stay Republican, and likely will be even harder for anyone to make it function the way things are going. I honestly don't see anyway for us to have a functioning government in the near future, and I worry about what that will do to the country.

    I've heard him speak.

I think of him as Gohmert Pyle.

The Republicans will control the House for at least another 3 terms until the 2020 census unless sane America finally tires of their bull ****.

If the Democrats want to retake control they need to get their act together on the state level and start taking state legislatures back so they can draw less gerrymandered districts. With the districts drawn how they are I don't think there is anything the Republicans could do to lose the house no matter how crazy they get.

Unfortunately there's no sane America in site. Gutted by BO and other Dems, not to be outdone by a wildly dysfunctional mottled group of Republicans the damage runs deep...

Are you saying this is just the break his campaign was hoping for?

I've read the same thing here, just put more succinctly:

    "But...but...but...Benghazi!"
