To pay at least $1700 and not even get at least 120Hz refresh rate has to be criminal.
All the better that the Kuycon G32P offers up to 144Hz... though not in the full 6K, but below that.
But I agree with you. The next 218-224 PPI monitor should also offer at least 120 Hz or more in the highest native resolution.
 
Hi everyone, I've used the Kuycon P32K (32inch 4k 144hz) for 11months, it was a great monitor for that price point. Was watching YouTube and suddenly it hung and hanged image turned greenish. Turned it off and on and the image still persist awhile audio is playing fine. Force shutdown my Mac mini and unplugged the monitor power source. Upon turning back on the Mac mini and the monitor I could hear that booting works fine but the monitor only had its backlight turned on without any image. I also noticed that it did not show its usual branding when turning it on.

Contacted Kuycon and they offered to replace my monitor if I could send them back the faulty monitor. Checked the shipping fees and reported back to them the cost and long story short they offered to send me out a new monitor without sending back the faulty monitor but of cause I would have to cover my own shipping fees to my country. I would say their service was very good we tried troubleshooting the faulty monitor but to no avail it had to be repaired/replaced.

Now I have a brand new monitor and a faulty one, wondering if it is possible to DIY some repair on the faulty one...
Would appreciate any advice.

It could be quite possible to get the monitor working again, but it uses Kuycon specific parts, so would probably only be repairable with replacement parts from Kuycom - which probably isn't possible since you have received a replacement.

However if you open it up and find the part number of the screen panel then it would be possible to search AliExpress for alternative parts to replace whatever part has failed - most likely the video driver board.

Unfortunately no alternatives would fit the specific port input layout, but that could be worked around to get a working monitor.
The tricky part is finding a vendor who has a scaler board with the correct firmware to drive your specific screen panel.

The screen panel will be a standard part, but Kuycon add the glass front panel themselves, so if that has failed -unlikely from your description of the failure - then the panel could only be replaced by a matte finish one.

@Zariche More than likely it's the driver board and not the panel itself. Open monitor up and identify the driver board (PCB) and see if you can find the part on Aliexpress, Alibaba, eBay, Amazon, etc.

Pulled the trigger and placed an order on ClickClack. Got 10% off sitewide, so it was !700.
Justifying that if there's a problem, the discount I got theoretically would cover shipping and mean I'd pay the normal price.

Curious where it ships from and are you in the US? Wondering about tariff costs.

I would love to know what kind of longevity others who have purchased one of Kuycon’s monitors have gotten. Because, while obviously substantially cheaper than Apple’s Studio Display or the Pro Display (whatever they call it), you do still have to spend at least $1k for the most part.

thanks guys I was thinking it could be the t-con board or driver too but since the monitor's screen is glued down very much like the iMac it would be a pain in the arse to pry it without a heat gun. there isn't any screws to disassemble the monitor.

I have a shallow desk, so wanted to see if anyone who has one, can check some dims. Specifically the distance from the back of the stand to the front and back of stand to front of the monitor (see attached image). Also am I correct in that the stand does not have a double hinge like the Apple ones? (E.g. the metal piece connection point to the stand (see boxed red) is not a hinge and only slides up and down vs it being able to tilt so monitor is closer to the back of the stand). Thanks in advance for the help.

This is the universal variant of the Kuycon stand so the dimensions may be slightly different, but this should get you started.

It is about 8" from back of stand to front (there is a lip at rear not shown clearly in any diagram) and it is about 5" from back of stand to front edge of screen assuming no tilt. That location you noted is not a hinge point. It appears on mine to be fixed. The screen tilts from the front hinge point.

Thank you so much for the info! On the fence as my 4K monitor is no slouch, but curious for those who made a similar jump, did it really feel night and day in the same way jumping to a 4K monitor did at the time?

4K but what size? 27" If so, that is 164 ppi, jumping to 224 ppi. Will it make a difference? Yes, but to what degree depends on the seating distance. I sit at around 22" and 164 ppi is actually supposedly "Retina" at 21" or more. I can still see an improvement going to a 218 ppi 27" 5K iMac (glossy) or a 224 ppi 32" LG 6K at this seating distance, but honestly the 27" 4K was still pretty good.

If you sit at say 19" then the difference will be more obvious, but if you sit at say 25" (probably not if you have a shallow desk), then the difference will be even harder to see.

I have a word of caution for Mac users and the G32P monitor. I wanted to try different connections so I turned off the monitor, removed my TB5 cable and attached the HDMI cable. When I restarted my Mac was all messed up. Different wallpaper, some sites could not load correctly. I had to use my backup to restore. Never had that issue with other monitors. I would suggest that the Mac should be shut down before making any changes that will impact the video signal. I was using a Mac Mini M4 pro.

Pure coincidence. Attaching an HDMI cable did not do this.

I have never seen this before. I did notice the video image not correct when rebooted. When I removed the HDMI and put back the TB5 cable then the image was correct but some other issues rose up. All is fine now so who knows. However. I just remembered that I had also tried to connect the monitor through a hub at one point which I normally do not do so perhaps that had some impact.. I guess best to leave alone now that all is fine again.
 
what's the recommended cables for the monitor? I've got an M1 Max Pro, so no HDMI 2.1.

Does it come with a thunderbolt to displayport?
It comes with all the required cables but I used my own TB5 cable that I used on my previous Studio Display. I did not test the supplied unmarked cable.
