imo doesnt add to 'viral hype' or some mysterious quality thats gonna reward itself in the form of more sales just exchanges and returns for people that are already wanting to get the new phones.

theres like 20 seconds of Good Morning America footage that surfaced today, so we now do see what the 12 and 12 Pro blue's look like, in studio lighting, from somewhat afar in a cameo appearance of a segment but ... this isn't going to make people want the phone more.

They just won't know what color to get especially since these are BRAND new body styles as well

Should've handed out to a few YT'ers, or had REALLY controlled and socially distanced / safe hands on locations like they have in the past for 11 Pro I believe or the XR or something recently... New York showcases for select journalists.

Not sure what they were thinking or even if they were thinking, with preorders going up in hours.

Yes we had a keynote, but no hands on aspect, no ... almost anything!

Like you said it won’t stop the returns and exchanges. But that happens anyway. How many posters on here have said they are ordering a 12 Pro but will likely return it and order the Pro Max. They are just using it as a placeholder to get the larger phone but to have the new tech/design in the interim. Kinda sad IMHO.

It’s also sad Apple delayed the release for the pro and mini 😂

I get that. I don't think that would be the case if it wasn't for what is going on with supply chains, manufacturing, etc. in 2020. My current iPhone is an X which I ordered I think at the same time as the 8/8Plus ordering window as all pre-orders were the same day, but the delivery date was 11/3/17. And I was fortunate to get it on launch day but those of us getting the X had to wait 4-5 weeks after the 8/8Plus launch for our devices.

I think there's more to a story. Maybe Apple wants people ordering multiple devices. It looks good on the paper.

Seriously, absurd is the right call. I'm sticking with my usual safe bet on the silver phone. The gold looks really good for the first time ever. But I just don't want to risk a return considering you need to have an appointment to do anything at the Apple store in CA now.

Yeah i remember back when i bought the X, that the hands on videos were a big help for me to decide on the color.

So far the blue color from the Pro and Non-Pro seem to look different in almost every picture i see..

I’m just hoping to see the Air launch soon. As the Pro Max order date is several weeks out, I’d like to get an iPad Air as that delay has been longer than expected. Hoping with the indications of a 10/23 launch date alongside the first phones that the pre-orders start Friday as well. Or Tuesday at the latest.

It sucks not having the hands on videos we normally have but I don’t think it will discourage too many people who are pre-ordering today. The people pre-ordering today are the people who most likely know exactly what they want. There will be hands on videos from YouTubers and the like before it actually releases anyway.

Yeap. Test drivers gonna test drive. I decided against it this year, its not fair to the legit buyers. Also, you have 2 weeks to actually go in store or watch 5200 YouTube videos of 12/12pro to decide which mini/pro max colour works for you.
