Okay, I was just reading Obama's opinion piece (or having it read to me) this afternoon, and caught a rather strange comment from Mr. Obama. Partway through talking about the challenge in Iraq, he ends his paragraph like this:
    http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122567490887592021.html#printMode

Huh. Y'know... I've heard him make these references before. High-minded rhetoric about "saving the world" from a up and coming orator that seems to come out of no where, channeling the inspirational charisma of some of our greatest leaders (leaders that brought us together as one people and set goals as far as the moon).

But, I really think this does it for me. "Last Best Hope of Earth"? WTF? Did he just reference our designation in the solar system?

I think Barack Obama is some future man that's come back in time to unite the world against a coming alien invasion. Yep. I'm now convinced.

EDIT: Ah hell, google it, it's everywhere... :D

Edit2: There is even a book about Lincoln title "The Last Best Hope of Earth"

Lincoln's annual message to Congress in 1862:

Always have respect for the man born on my birthday. :)

Hm. Ok, fine... so he's still channeling Lincoln. The man doesn't stop. Or IS he a man? Hmm....

EDIT: Boy, people are fast! :)
WHY.... WHY does reading Obama's words force me to learn more about politics and history? It's like he was a teacher or lecturer or something.

Of course it does! Barry Manilow had a song by that name! Of course anyone under the age of 40 probably has no clue who Barry Manilow is...

If he's the opposite of Bush, this could work out. Think about it. Bush set the bar pretty low, and still somehow disappointed. Palin is right up there. Maybe Obama is promising the world and actually does better. Galactic Peace forever!

Kidding of course, I wonder if he isn't starting to make such claims the way Apple does so that most people know you can't believe everything, so when something kinda cool comes out you're more or less happy, but left wanting a little more.

But if he doesn't have firewire, be prepared for the onslaught of complaining.

No... no... that's the other thread. :D

Obama called his shot way back on this whole thing. This has been a tremendous first act (if he wins). All indications are that he's been working hard on the follow-up. I just hope he can predict and combat what happens in the White House. We can quickly get into a log-jam even with a single-party majority. We'll see.

Watch Obama distance himself first from his Chicago political roots--too many Democrats don't like that political machine run by the Daley family.

There's good reason for this: the Clintons forgot to do that, and the result was the Whitewater fiasco, which nearly undid all the goodwill the Clintons got (the MSM was hounding the Clinton for months over this). I don't think Obama wants to answer questions about his relationship with William Ayers and Tony Rezko.
