I have an older version of iWork originally purchased as a disc, and it was converted into a Mac App Store version back in the day (must have been around the time of Snow Leopard) – "Users who own iWork '09 or iLife '11 are supposed to receive the latest versions of both those app suites for free through the Mac App Store" see https://www.macrumors.com/2013/10/2...aving-difficulties-upgrading-to-new-versions/

Originally I had difficulties upgrading to the new version so the Apple support person back in the day told me to buy the new copies and then he would refund them to me - which he did. However now the latest iWork updates (Keynote 6.6, Pages 5.6, Numbers 3.6) now refuse to update saying:
"Update Unavailable with This Apple ID / This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled."

I suspect it's because the apps no longer appear on the purchased tab because it's been refunded. So, I have spoken to Apple Support in a screen-sharing session and he said that with changes they have made in El Capitan now I have to repurchase iWork again and that I was lucky that the updates still continued to work even in Yosemite.

Is anyone else experiencing the same issue? I feel this is unfair being charged twice to get an update for a minor update to a software package that I have already purchased...

The support person refunded you incorrectly. I had the same issue and they then credited me a voucher to the value of all three for me to then purchase.

Thanks, been reading https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT201064 which clearly states that iWork '09 should still be eligible for updates in El Capitan so have contacted Apple Support again with my original iWork '09 order number hopefully someone can credit it to my account correctly!

Finally managed to resolve it by installing iWork '09 off my DVD again, upgrading to iWork 9.3 and then finally the Mac App Store successfully restored it!! Made a mistake upgrading Pages (paid Apple another £14.99) but that was quickly refunded by Apple. Finally!
