Ticketing jaywalkers - or can they break every traffic law in the book and get a free pardon regardless of how much damage is done because of their narcissism and/or mindlessness?

Another reason to use ApplePay or Android Pay.

Seriously, I see no reason that ordinary troopers should be running around freezing people's bank accounts and credit cards. That is an act that, at the very least, ought to require a Court Order after a hearing where you have a chance to be represented by a lawyer.

Civil Asset Forfeiture is a disgrace in this country. This just makes it worse. It is the very definition of unreasonable search and seizure.

Not much of information in the article. But anyway, I could have retired earlier if I had one in my car. Unfortunately I had to retire the old fashioned way by taking bribes and stealing cash out of wallets.

What about the speeding-ticket quota kickbacks? LEO 401K, IIRC.

First thought came to mind: Like they always have? Tax collecting (<clears throat>) I mean ticketing people for driving 5 mph over the speed limit? :p

On a personal note: Every ticket I've gotten I've deserved (and more).

@chown33 Doh, you beat me to it.

@chown33 - I worked patrol so I was disadvantaged. I did win a toaster once though and came five tickets short for a trip to Hawaii.

The guys working traffic got all the perks.

I'm surprised Dianne "i want to spy on everyone and take guns from people, but still be surrounded by armed guards each with military grade equipment" Feinstein isn't behind this.
