Let's lay the blame where it really lies: this was all equallycaused by George W. and Barack O.

Bush invades Iraq when he shouldn't have.
Obama leaves early when he shouldn't have.
Obama does not leave a sufficient residual force.

France has every right to blame this on the United States.

I personally blame Turkey for allowing Islamic State to sell oil through their country.

Maybe, but maybe not. If Bush hadn't invaded Iraq, there would definitely have been those who said it was a missed opportunity to disarm a dictator. If Obama had left behind a residual force, then others would have criticized him for continuing to put American soldiers lives at risk with billions of dollars going toward supporting those forces.

Even if the U.S. decides to invade Syria and Iraq and take back all the territory held by ISIS, what then? Do we stay there in perpetuity all the while costing us a fortune in lives and resources? As soon as ISIS goes away another crazy group will rise to take its place. It's a game of whack a mole.

Let's take it back even further.

Reagan gives the mujahideen weapons, including one Osama bin Laden, who would then use those weapons against the world with Al Qaeda.

Want to give blame to where it starts, there you go.

But we all know this is more than just that, so let's keep US politics and French blame out of this, as this is headed to the Wasteland.

Yeah right, because history began in 2003, or 1991 if you prefer the invasion to expel Iraqi troops that had invaded and occupied Kuwait.

Do you know when the Unites States Marines first deployed and why?

Or how about after WWI when the western world was dividing up the Ottoman empire, or after WWII when we foisted Israel on them. We play the game and assign blame and it fixes nothing, let's deal with stuff as it is and worry over whose ultimately at fault when no one else is getting blown up on either side.

Not sure. But when one calls out a soldier to learn up on international war when that soldier fought in 3 wars does give you insight into how much they don'y know.

Besides, this goes back to 1980.

Well look it up when you have a chance. The US's involvement with Muslim Radicals goes back for centuries. I'm sick of the find a way to blame America and the political party you don't like first, never acknowledging that there are maniacs who hate our way of life. They hate the decadence of the west, which includes the way most of the haters live.

And if you served, you aren't the only one around here spent time on the pointy end of the spear, nor does being a soldier give anyone any special dispensation or great geopolitical wisdom.

Absolutely no argument here; in fact, I completely agree with your post.

Thank you. If this threat is to be vanquished, we need to stick together. Clear and Present Danger that has to be addressed, no matter what the cause.

    why not blame religion?

"The Quran contains at least 109 verses that call Muslims to war with nonbelievers for the sake of Islamic rule. Some are quite graphic, with commands to chop off heads and fingers and kill infidels wherever they may be hiding. Muslims who do not join the fight are called 'hypocrites' and warned that Allah will send them to Hell if they do not join the slaughter."

That's the conservative revisionist way to look at it.

I don't support never ending occupations, especially one that resulted from an illegal invasion. The world has to step up to the threats in their neighborhood, and not expect the US to dump a trillion+ $$ on their behalf killing and maiming tens of thousands of our young adults and hundreds of thousands (a million?) if you want to include who we kill, collateral damage, and actions of the enemy. The 50s and 60s are long past. We can no longer afford it.

Btw, I don't mind helping, but we are no longer up to functioning as a viable civilization while trying to police the world. We can't/don't want to even spend the money to maintain our infrastructure, much less take care of everyone else's problems.

You need to lookup Operation Cyclone, which was authorized under Jimmy Carter.

To quote you: "Want to give blame to where it starts, there you go."

    By all means...

I blame the Big Bang Theory. If it wouldn't have gone and created the universe 14 billion years ago, we wouldn't be having these problems.

I've heard TV shows blamed for a lot of things, but this seems a bit much.

Really you should be blaming the British and French. They're the ones who dissected the Ottoman empire and made all of these interesting little countries.

Personally, though, I don't find any use in playing the blame game. People took actions and we now have those results. We can fix problems or create disunity among ourselves over it.

Really it goes back to cultures that are stuck in the stone ages and those who hate progressing as a society. We need to stop being ignorant to change if we will ever change.
