Now that Apple has officially announced the Lightning to SD Card Reader for the iPad 4 and iPad mini, does anyone know if it will support the iPhone 5? Or will it be like the connection kit from the previous 30-pin adapter and only support the iPad?

I really want to be able to shoot with my digital camera and share them via my iPhone when I'm travelling and have no access to a computer.

It should support the iPhone with no issues. I did the same thing with the 30 pin iPad adapters to my iPhone 4. It's an unadvertised feature that'll work just fine.

The previous adapters didn't work with the iPhone 4. I was hoping as well that the new adapters would work with iPhone 5 so I could plug midi instruments in via USB adapter.

my 30pin "digital av" aka hdmi, worked with both my iPad 3 and iphone 4s. Pretty sure it worked on the 4 as well.

I'm not talking about video out cables, I'm talking about the SD card adapter.
