Limits on # of devices you can preorder from Apple online?

Having never pre-ordered on Apples website and debating between lining up and preordering, is there a limit to the number of devices you can actually order? I know if you stand in line you are limited to 2 (at least thats what it was with the 6).

Is there a difference in ship time if you preorder 1 vs 2 or more devices?

2 device limit, although I'm told iPhone X will be limited to one. Items are usually shipped as they become available.

It has varied from device release to device release. For devices that supply is expected to exceed demand, the limit has been "more than 2, less than 10" on launch day. For devices that demand is expected to exceed supply, it has usually been 2. But there are rumors that the high end "iPhone X" will be restricted to just one.
