Anytime i click on a hyperlink from a web page using Safari by default it opens up a new window. Is there a way for it to simply just open up in a new tab?

I have my preferences set to open in new tab instead of a new window but for some reason it still opens in a new window when i click on a link. Any help would be appreciated.

That happened to me but I moved to firefox and it automatically opens a new tab but that trick is nice to have.
