I used to play a game on the apple at school called conan. This was some 13 years ago. The screen was green and black I think. Im looking to download this for a PC. I havent been able to find it as yet. If anyone has any ideas please email me amberpamby@optusnet.com.au

PC versions for old Apple games

I feel like I've been talking to myself when I read your post about Conan the Barbarian. I think I wrote something very very similar in a post elsewhere at one time. I didn't get any feedback, either. Are you still looking? Have you found a version that will work on the pc?

I suspect the game you are talking about is "Conan: Hall of Volta". The game was released in 1984 for the Apple II computer. It also has a wikipedia page.page

I would also love to find this game. I too used to play it as a kid while in school. This halls of volta that I've seen people mention, is not the game, as it is more colorful than the game I remember. Like the other guy said, I remember this game being only green and black, which were the only two colors that I think these older computers were capable of. It was a very simplistic game, and I remember it being called only "Conan" It would be cool if there was a way to emulate this on my pc.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks :)

Searching Google a bit found this, but the link for the download is dead. It does prove someone at some point made a version for Windows though.

The download link goes to Retro Remakes, which has a forum where you might get more help.

Retro Remakes says their download site is down for maintenance. Not sure how long that's been up there, maybe it'll be back soon. There's no post in their forum about it.

Think it through a little bit: it's not that the computers couldn't do color, it's more likely that they were hooked to monochrome monitors. One of the most popular platforms for this game was the Apple II, which could certainly do color.

Anyway, you can play it online here. You'll need to use Firefox.

    Old Mac Games

I just did a quick search on Macintosh Garden (mac.the-underdog.info), a site which I occasionally peruse. It archives abandonware Mac Games and did not find the title under "Conan" nor "Hall ..."
