M$ is having some problems with speach recognition, something the Mac has had since 1993. MacNNN linked to a story by Newsbytes. http://newsbytes.com/news/02/175108.html ""The company said the behavior occurs because "the speech recognition tool is 'listening' to your voice through you computer's microphone and is attempting to recognize what you are saying." " like other "features" that cause poblems, " Microsoft said its speech recognition engine, a program file named Sapisvr.exe, is turned on at installation by some computer manufacturers. The engine is also included with Microsoft Office XP and other speech-enabled products." so XP users have been listened to since they hit that "start" button on thier new machines, where are the rumours of them reporting back to Redmond "and then he said . . ."
who uses it? disabled people who can't use a mouse and keyboard. also back in the old days manager types had secretaries who took dictation. ever enjoyed the luxury of dictating a letter or speech? Typing is for plebes.
I've used ViaVoice to dictate a couple of short papers for school. As long as you go through all the set-up it works pretty well.
Hey! I think people should actually LEARN how to type. I noticed how technology is making people so lazy. I would much rather type a report than...speak...it.
