hello, i have a power mac which isnt that old but just recently its started slowing down and freezing quite regulary. Im stuck trying to work out why. I dont know what half of this stuff means but heres some stats on the mac to help you.

Model Identifier: MacPro 1,1
Processor Name: Dual-Core Intel Xeon
Processor speed: 2.66 GHz
Number of Processors: 2
Total Cores: 4
L2 cache (Per Processor): 4MB
Memory: 4GB 667 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM
Bus Speed: 1.33GHz
Boot ROM Version: MP11.005C.B08
SMC Version : 1.7f10
Hard Drive Avaliable: 202.94GB

Hope that explains it, let me know if you need to know anything else?

Thanx!!

By freezing do you mean completely locking up or beachballs?

How much hard drive space is still available?

Have you tried repairing permission in Disk Utility? (your HD)/Applications/Utilities

What is your CPU usage in Activity Monitor when slowdowns occur? (your HD)/Applications/Utilities

That's call a Mac Pro. PowerMac is only used for certain pre-intel Macs.

Looks like you shuld be under warranty. Contact AppleCare.

Thanks guys, there is like 200GB hard drive left!!! And when it freezes it stops completely for about 30 seconds so cant check activity.

Am trying the "repair disk permissions" function now then will give applecare a call if no luck.

Thanx.
