When .Mac started and replaced free iTools. Large seething masses of mac users where upset. There was much hubbub. I was wondering how you feel now. Has it been almost a year already? My personal opinion is....it is worth it. I use it almost everyday. It really turned people on to my mac because they are impressed by the ease of use. Any thoughts? I am not looking forward to paying for another year, but I will do it.

i'm still thinking about this everyday. the whole thing has been nice overall but i'm not sure if i'll renew next year. i'll be picking up some real server space with PHP support etc for my small business and probably won't be able to justify the cost at that point. iCal is ok but so are alot of other calendars, including the one in Entourage, plus you get a great mail client to boot. i think that's my main beef with .Mac; the Mail application absolutely BLOWS. it's just awful. everyday it gives me trouble and all i'm using it for is my .mac address. it's always creating these new folders and mailboxes by itslef and not being able to send messages all the time. it's just a headache. whatelse...Backup is pretty cool i guess but totally replaceable for free. i don't know, maybe some new features will come along soon to keep my interested but right now it's just becoming more trouble than it's worth.

the iPhoto integration is nice, but i'm not sure if it's $100 nice. i may look into other options when my time is up. however, for less tech-savy people - the iPhoto/web page integration would completely be worth it. that's something that blows people away when they see how easy it is. actually, maybe i'll keep it. well, that's settled. :)

not for me - I have a share in a linux box in a data center, costs about the same per year, but we get much more for it.

It was totally worth it for 50 bucks. I'm hesitating when my renewal comes up for 100 bucks...but I'm so used to having it now and using it weekly to store things and daily for the e-mail service that I'm too hooked not to go for it.
