You won't get 4K from the integrated GPU. I suppose it's possible that an (unsupported) eGPU might be able to do it, but even then it might depend on the bandwidth you can get through a TB1 port like the 2012 Mini has. I have an eGPU with an RX580 on my 2012 Mini (quad 2.6 GHz), and it doesn't break a sweat doing 1440p at 60 FPS in most cases, but 4K might be pushing the envelope with TB1 even if you put a beast of a GPU in it, at least if you are going to have any gaming or significant video going on.

I have been using this monitor with a 2014 M Mini for over a year. No unsolved issues whatsoever. I run it at 1440. I use a thunderbolt II to Mini Displayport adapter.

Probably too late for the OP, but whoever stumbles across this post: Issue is solved (Link).

Problem NOT solved unfortunately. *sigh* Disregard my text above!

in my case it connected with hdmi but i get only 1080p and i know that the resolution can be larger.

My memory isn't as good as it used to be, but I believe 1080p "is the most you can get" from the HDMI port of the late-2012 Mini.

Doesn't matter what display you connect -- that's all you get.

Go to the DisplayPort (thunderbolt port), and I think you can get 1440p...

I've checked that and you are right
so I'll need to get an adapter from HDMI to dp

"so I'll need to get an adapter from HDMI to dp"

NO!
This won't work either!

You need a "minidisplayport" (Mac end) to "displayport" (display end) cable.
Plug it into the thunderbolt port, which is ALSO the displayport.
(Same port with two names).

Don't buy a cheap one.
Check around and read the user reviews to be sure that it will work with the Mac.

The 6-foot version (which you link to) shows as "unavailable".
The 3-foot version still looks to be available.

You'll have to read through the user reviews (all or at least many of them) and "filter out" the experiences of Mac users to see if there are those who report the cable as being usable with 2018 Macs...
