Okay, here's my plea to the Mac community. I'm trying to help a friend update an older Macintosh to allow them to run a piece of software which requires Mac OS 9 (or higher). After searching high and low, I managed to find a copy of Mac OS X 10.1, which includes an OS 9 CD. However, I was rather disappointed to find that the CD is an OS 9.2 CD, and it won't install on the computer in question. I called Apple, and all they could suggest is that I look farther for an older copy of an OS 9 CD. The local Apple reseller told me that they could only burn me a copy of the system that originally shipped with the computer (i.e. System 7.6), and that really doesn't help. I know that there is a patch that allows Old World Macs to run OS 9.2, but it requires access to an OS 9.1 system folder to copy key elements over. I'm at a loss, and I need some help. Is there anyone out there that could offer some good suggestions? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!
