Mac Video/Audio Surveillance

I would like to set up a relatively inexpensive surveillance system on my iMac G5 to monitor some rowdy neighbors. The police can't seem to catch them when they come out. I need to be able to record video and audio with a timestamp on it, edit that video and burn a DVD, and the camera cord needs to be about 5 feet long. Can anyone help? Has anyone set up a similar system? I only need one camera. Thanks!
