Really tempted by this but I think I may hold out for an 11” MacBook Air with a Retina display. Fingers crossed! :)
Or just an updated MacBook lineup.

Nice deal! Thanks for posting it. Been seeing lots of MacBook deals all over the place for the last few weeks. Makes me wonder if Apple is trying to blow out all their excess inventory in preparation for a whole new wave of MacBooks. Hope so!! Come on Apple, give us back a decent keyboard, Magsafe and an SD card slot! Even a USB-A would be nice, but I can live with USB-C. Do the right thing and make 2019 a great one, Apple!!

I missed out where you could get an open box certified for $719 (sold out by the time I bought)! That's pretty much a return within the 14 day window with absolutely no signs of use and includes everything.

All I am waiting for is a new keyboard, but after seeing how the iMac basically just got updated in the same basic form... I am not optimistic.

I wonder if they will just refresh the internals in 2019 and save an all new design for the ARM macbook.

I Just bought macbook that appears to be in mint condition for $540 from Best Buy (open box). Came with all accessories. I’m nervous though because the AppleCare expired 48 days ago ( Best Buy assured me though that I get a year warranty through Best Buy). I am also nervous because it was a floor model which means it was used over a year on the floor since the AppleCare expired. Battery cycle is 9 (plugged in all the time) and condition is normal. Should I keep this or take back. Appears to be in good shape but nervous about people abusing it for a year on the floor. It was a base model 2017 open box

Did you get it in writing that Best Buy gives you a year warranty with the computer? If you did, I'd hang on to it. $540 is hard to pass up with a one-year warranty. But if you've got no paperwork to prove you have a one-year warranty with BB, I'd take it back because if that thing craps out on you out-of-warranty, get ready to pony up your first-born to get the thing fixed by Apple.

FYI: A BB receipt isn't proof of warranty. It needs to state in writing on the receipt that you are covered because if it doesn't, you're going to run into the infamous Best Buy look of confusion when it comes time for a repair. There's always a loophole somewhere. Don't let it bite you in the ass!

I missed it completely, but if the 3 regular colors were on sale for $899, was the clearance old gold and rose gold going for slightly below that?

The current MacBook Air with two Thunderbolt 3 ports and faster processor is a better deal at $999 on Amazon.

Not if you want fanless, better screen, and lighter.

Let's say they add touch ID today to a new macbook. Guess what? The price will be $1299 (at least). This is still $450 cheaper than that.

I just picked up one from B&H for $799 it’s a rose gold with 256 gb I’ve been wanting a small portable MacBook and this seemed like a good price know I’m confused is this the latest 2017 version or was than offered in rose gold?

The 2017 MacBook revision came in Rose Gold, (old) Gold, Silver, and Space Grey as before, but when the new MacBook Air came out in 2018 the MacBook was updated only in color to (new) Gold, Silver, and Space Grey. Rose Gold and (old) Gold went on sale and clearance at places such as B&H and Best Buy.
If you need someone to convince you why you need to buy something it's not for you.

Was the only difference on the new gold in 2018 the color? No other changes?

You got the latest model. The difference was only in color (e.g. (Product)Red iPhone 7 vs Jet Black iPhone 7). The MacBook (2017) did not get any changes for 2018

I'm typing on my new MacBook right now ! I can't believe the thiness and heft of this thing. The Rose gold I was skeptical about but I really like it it doesn't look too pink as I though it might. It's a unique color. B&H shipped to me overnight basically but I am on the east coast. I would not have paid $1299 for this but for $799 I'm pretty happy. The Keyboard is fine for me, I won't be writing papers on this.

I bought one for my wife during the last B&H sale at this price in (old) Gold and she loves it. The old colors are also great for those of us with (old) Gold/Rose Gold things at home that you would to have matching. If I had not already gotten a 2018 MacBook Air for myself, I would have jumped on the remaining (and rare) Rose Gold MacBook on sale this time around
