Hi,

I am getting ready to upgrade my Macbook Air 11" from 2012 and I am aiming at a 13.3" Macbook Pro this time around.

I am doing a lot more photography from my DSLR and video editing from GoPro videos and I wanted to have more access to ports and also a SD Card reader.

My main hesitation in choosing now comes to the size of the HD and the processor speed. I am not totally convinced about the i5 vs i7 being that big a deal, but I am more hesitant about the size of the SSD. My first impulse is 1tb is definitely better than 512gb. My current Air has a 256gb SSD and it is naked out at the moment so I definitely need a bigger drive. I just don't know if double the capacity will be enough or if four times the capacity is worth the extra $600 price tag.

I know this subject can be quite subjective, but hopefully some of you guys that went through this decision process may be able to guide me.

Thanks in advance!

The i7 isn't worth the $200 upgrade charge.

If you were able to get by with a 256GB SSD, I see no reason that the 512GB drive won't work.

Both processors are dual cores. You'd be paying quite a high price for very little performance improvement. You could argue the only way you'd notice is through artificial benchmarks.

SSD size is 100% up to you. Personally I wouldn't upgrade, do you truly need all your photos and videos with you at all times? External drives are inexpensive and work nicely for storage.
