    Hi all,

I've just purchased a samsung 20" 2032mw tv/monitor. i got it for a good price and mainl got it because I can hook a freeview box up to it and use it as a monitor for my macbook pro (13", 2.26/4gb/500gb)

I've got a mini display port > dvi adapter. I plugged that in, and then plugged in my dvi>hdmi cable. When i previosuly had this set up using a benq 22" monitor, it worked fine, recognised the optimum resolution and stuck with it (it was a 1080p monitor)

Now, when i plug the cables in, it picks up the monitor, but will only offer me a 1600x900 resolution which makes the picture, well, not very crisp, and you can't even see my dock on the right. it also cuts off the menu bar at the top. It's supposed to have a max resolution of 1680x1050.

I've tried fiddling with the settings on the tv (not much you can alter on the MBP) but nothing seems to work.
If anyone can help me out that would be great as I really want to keep hold of the monitor/tv.
    will

I have the same problem with my Vizio VO22L. You can either get SwitchResX and play with that, or you can use a VGA cable.

It came with a VGA cable but i dont really want to have to shell out on a mini display port to vga adapter when i have the cables already. I think I'm going to get a refund on the monitor/tv and then just buy a monitor rather than a tv combi.
