Macbook Pro jammed latch covered by warranty? (Non-Unibody)

Okay I've got an Early 2008 Penryn Macbook Pro. The latch seems to be jammed and won't lock when it closes. The button seems to be jammed in the entire time. There's no physical damaged involved. It simply stopped working one day.

Is this covered under AppleCare warranty? Thanks.

Seems like Apple would cover jammed latches.

Only one way to find out. Give 'em a call.

It never hurts to ask, but it's likely that since it has worked for a long time, they'll consider it normal wear and tear, which isn't covered. Sometimes you get lucky with someone willing to make an exception.
