I know that she was concerned with the size and weight, but I couldn’t give up my 16”. This love affair will hopefully last for years. 🥰

My last machine was 2019 16” with maxed out processor and RAM. Super disappointed when I came to find it was so thin that the screen was easily destroyed by picking it up with one hand. Ended up using the $300 AppleCare option and completely refurbishing it, which made for a very easy eBay sale with only 8 battery cycles and the plastic still on the Touch Bar.

Decided to go with the 14” this time since the pixel count was almost the same and hopefully avoid these issues. When I need the screen real estate, there’s a LG Ultrafine 5K waiting at home and the 14” Max can drive it without a sweat.

Apple already processed a replacement yesterday. Should I reach out and try to get them to expedite it further somehow? Not sure if that’s even possible with the shipping delays.

I can certainly attempt to get them to extend the return period.

I would try, yes. There were other users in this thread that had the same thing happen, and Apple told them that their replacement would be expedited. Regardless, it wouldn't hurt to try.

Yep. Apple extended the return period for all purchases after November 1st to January 8th, 2022. What is left to be determined is if that "purchase" is according to when the order was placed or when the card used for the order was charged.

This also applies in store as well.

For me, I’m done. Purchased the sleeve which should arrive on Friday/Saturday and the last thing I’m waiting for is my skin for dBrand. My next Apple purchase will be for the iPhone 14.

And to stay on topic, has anyone's Menu bar been crashing lately? It happened thrice to me, I get a bunch of dialogs like "XYZ needs login keychain" repeatedly. Doesn't work unless I hard restart the laptop.

After 2 days with my BTO 16 M1Max 2TB and having transferred all my important files (didn't use Migration Assistant to avoid transferring unnecessary stuff), I am absolutely in love with this laptop 😍
Most of this has been said before, but the screen, trackpad, speakers, battery and speed are just phenomenal!!
I know I over specced for my particular needs, but don't regret it one bit, and the space grey is gorgeous.
Only hiccup so far has been with iMovie, where loading projects from my transferred library is surprisingly causing frequent beachballs until it fully loads... maybe a corrupt library or indexing still going on?
Anyway, for those still waiting for theirs, it's well worth the wait! And now to give my wallet a rest, I've spent way to much money on Apple gear this year 😜

2021 MBP, 2012 MBPR (handed down to my partner and 11 yo) and on the far right where it all began for me: 2007 White MacBook (with easily upgraded RAM and SSD, which my 8 yo still uses for her simple IT needs) 🤓
