This nonsense has to stop, regardless of who is wielding the weapon. People thinking their politics gives them some type of license to commit acts of violence against others who are not of their particular political tribe need to do some serious rethinking. He's only lucky that he was in a victim disarmament zone and not a regular, off campus store where someone with a firearm might have plugged him.

A spokesman for the university said the attacker had "one two three four five weapons in his bag. Five! Ha ha ha"

What motive? A lunatic Republican went out hunting unarmed Democrats in a well known gun free zone. The victims were disarmed by the Transylvania University administration. It is and always has been a victim disarmament zone.

I agree. In other parts of Lexington that may well have been the case, too.

First of all, there is generally way to much politically motivated violence going on right now. It's unacceptable whoever is doing it.

I think it's evident this kid has some severe mental health issues. The attack itself is absurd and commuted by himself alone, but the article also states he partook in self injury. He also dropped out of school which may or may not be related.

That said, he's very lucky he was not shot. People have the right to defend themselves. If I had a gun and you came at me with a machete... the outcome might not be very good.

I do love the 'if people had guns they could have stopped him' tripe. Stop a problem with a problem never works and citizens needing to carry guns in a supposed civilised country is a sad state of affairs.

The facts speak for themselves. Armed gun owners stop crimes and mass shootings when they are present. Unarmed individuals are just prey.

    That motive.

Wait, you mean the true motive of this thread wasn't "See?!? Seeee!?? Gun-free zones equal more death"? Could have fooled me.

Another fact is, no one has ever been shot where a gun wasn't present. Yet another fact is, the developed country with the most guns has the most gun crime and death, by far.

Sure stopped those cops that got shot last year right? That's the facts having a gun does not mean you will solve the problem. It could make it worse there is no way to know.
Let's add up how many real crimes were stopped with a citizen and a gun verses how many accidental shootings and murder suicides and mass shootings happened. Let's see the larger total.

A little knife? Maybe a butter knife?

Or a tiny single-serving vial of mace? Just don't get it mixed up with your breath freshener...

You'll probably do nothing which is the standard.
