iMac 2014 128GB SSD + 1TB HDD 24GB RAM, running Big Sur 11.5.2;

Trying to download 11.6 from the Apple HP, System Preferences, Software Update is activated and results in a "System Preferences Error".

(Apple has not released the full 11.6 installer yet, see post below)

Running Silentknight and
softwareupdate --list
produces Label; "macOS Big Sur 11.6-20G165" -- This is the update to 11.6
Tried to run this:
sudo softwareupdate --install "macOS Big Sur 11.6-20G165"
which produced;
Finding available software
Downloading macOS Big Sur 11.6

Downloaded: macOS Big Sur 11.6 -- This appears far too fast, it would take much more time to download 2.x GB!
This ended in a terminal prompt: But it did not install the update to 11.6 and I can't find that update anywhere on the target disk.
Any ideas?
Edit: The only way I found to get the update was to boot into the recovery partition, initialize the SSD and then reinstall Big Sur, a real clean install. Immediately after the system was available, I ran the Software Update, and got the 11.6 update. After that finished, I ran migration Assistant and got my old system setup back.
Some differences: 11.5.2 allowed for a one character password. 11.6 insists on 4 or more; 11.5.2 had 62GB free, 11.6 only has 24GB free (will investigate that later).
Apple .....

Trying to download 11.6 from the Apple HP, System Preferences, Software Update is activated and results in a "System Preferences Error" after downloading 11.4 GB of 12.44GB.
Running Silentknight; download 12.44GB successfull, and MRT is updated to 1.8.4.
Now creating a USB install disk, and will reboot and run the 11.6 installer when that is finished.
I don't understand the "Mac os snapshot is unsealed" noted above, but obviously the Software Update preference pane doesn't see the Delta and quits with that error.
I assume Silentknight is using that link,
https://mrmacintosh.com/macos-big-sur-full-installer-database-download-directly-from-apple/
to get the installer, but I am not sure.
Apple did not drop the full installer yet! My guess is, that it is not even finished yet with how fast they had to get the update out there!

Sorry I should explain acronyms for those not familiar with them. "Over the air" is an update being offered to you when you click on System Preferences > Software Update
