Recently Mail has been acting really strange and has been lagging horribly, to the extent that not only is Mail unusable, but the entire computer.

Watching the Activity Monitor closely, I opened Mail and watched the "Real Memory" of Mail immediately grow to 400MB (this is when things freeze up) for around 90 seconds before sharply dropping down to 35MB and unfreezing the computer. After another 90 seconds the process repeats, and this cycle continues for as long as Mail is open.

It seems like it's the httpmail plugin causing the problem. As soon as its status changes to "fetching table headers" is when the memory jumps. When I disable httpmail there aren't any problems, but this is a plugin I rely on.

I've attempted re-installing httpmail with no luck. I tested it by setting up a new user account and installing the plugin and it works, but I still have the memory leak on my normal account. So it's a problem within my user account. Can anyone tell me what I investigate next?

(I am on 10.3.9 and the latest Panther version of the plugin.)
