It happens occasionally. Respring or restart and it'll be fine.

Yeah, I've had it happen too. Respring, and everything will be fine.

Thank you! I installed respring, re-sprung, and the icon came back. Is there another way to respring besides doing that? I tried the power button-home button method, and that didnt work. Thanks again.

I've had that happen to other icons before. I had an unlocked iPhone 3G (got it while overseas). Tried putting a stateside SIM card into it, it went haywire and half my icons turned white. The only way I could get them back to normal was to wait for an update for them. Luckily, I wasn't using the iPhone as my primary phone (due to iOS 4.0 killing it), so it didn't bother me much.

    Huh?

Respring = turn your phone off then on.

I do it through SBSettings. It's an option on the bottom of the SBSettings window. SBSettings is rather handy.

Lot faster to just respring and not reboot.

Yes. However, on my iPhone nothing is set to on in Mail in Notifications and yet it DOES display the number on the Mail icon when emails arrive.
