The Maine Governor has ordered that a mural depicting moments in the labor history of the state be removed from the headquarters of the Department of Labor. They are also renaming conference rooms. Governor LePage's office said that such things are in conflict with the department's "pro-business" stance.

So, what do image do you suppose should go up in its place? I'm thinking children being whipped for taking a bathroom break in the factory. I think that would be a good pro-business image.

    Maine, Maine, Maine....

I can get on board with changing the name of the room dedicated to Cesar Chavez", but getting rid of the mural is asinine.

I just don't understand why depicting happy workers overcoming abuse should be considered "anti-business". If "pro-business" is unhappy, abused workers working in dangerous conditions then bring on socialism.

I wonder how much citizen public tax money it costs to remove those murals and to rename conference rooms.

Very disturbing, especially since the murals highlight important moments of history. Who could possibly find a problem with "Rosie the Riveter"?

Usually i don't criticize politicians personally, just their policies. But I genuinely think this governor is a vile piece of human trash. Just not a good person.

People who do stuff are low-lifes. They belong to Unions, which give their money to Democrat scum. We should only show due respect for managers and executives who keep these other people in line and prevent their abilities from being co-opted and used for bad ends. Best just move all the dirty labor to Asian countries to keep those kind away from the good people.

Oh, and that May Day thing? It needs to be outlawed, and anyone celebrating it should be arrested. Celebrating Haymarket and the 40-hour week that is just crippling businesses' ability to turn a good profit is plain wrong.

    ******* commies.

Saying that the administration is "pro-business" is just a cowardly way of saying it is "anti-union".

Government should be 'influence-neutral', whether it be religion, big business, labour, or what have you.

Gee, do you think he could say any more clearly that he's working for big business, and not the people?

    Slimeball....

I'm sick of this mantra that we should "hear out both sides of the story" when it comes to human rights.

In all likelihood its the massive economic recession and collapse of the housing market that caused your city to go bankrupt. You can thank corrupt, business friendly bankers for that.

In addition, many communities overspent during the boom times and now can't pay up. That is also not the fault of the unions.

It's ludicrous that you are turning on your police and fire dept. Go ahead and fire them--just don't sue your city when no one responds to your 911 call.

80% of the General Fund went to Fire and Police. A police captain made $300,000, average packages for firefighters were $171,000. At age 55 they could retire with 90% of their final year of pay including overtime...

You might have heard about Vallejo, California going bankrupt...

What they are trying to ban are huge humanist paintings including Picasso's bombing of Guernica a highlight of human existence. Only the Italian and German Facsists along with their western fellow travellers (the blueshirts from Ireland for instance) would see as a problem. As Orwell said Fascism is a boot on the human face Forever!
