Maine overturns GOP efforts to further disenfranchise and restrict voting registration.

This, despite the GOPs efforts to use homophobia, among other scare tactics, to trick people into allowing them to steal your right to vote.

But I bet it doesn't stop them from continually over-reaching on these types of issues.

Big wins for Americans, and hopefully losses or cause for rethinking positions for the corporate owned representatives in both parties.

Good- it'll keep them out of office.

    We shall see, I guess.

Why is this an issue in another state? In California we have to register early and cannot register on the same day and there doesn't seem to be a problem.

    How early?

What if they trippled the time required, as is the case here?

    How would you respond then?

Some estimations of voter fraud in Maine have as many as 20% of all votes being cast as bogus, virtually all from same day registration.

More people voted on a casino vote several years ago than live in the county where the vote was held - man, woman and child..

    It's a problem...

From Maine Public Broadcasting. (Emphasis mine).

I'm not a math guy, but that sounds like it's a bit less than 20%. What's your source?

From information shared from Summers office last year to election officials in towns all over the State. No prosecutable case does not mean no election fraud.

How do you account for more votes in Oxford County than there are residents?

Uh, yeah, it does. You alleged a massive amount of "election fraud"... oh, not proven. I guess the massive amount of election fraud somehow went under the radar.

Amazing how the same sort of people who pooh-pooh the notion that thousands of Florida residents were illegitimately stricken from voter registration rolls because of phantom felonies -- nearly all in Democratic districts -- scream about systemic voter fraud and how ACORN managed to get That Kenyan Muslim Socialist into the White House by registering Disney characters.

If you can't get elected with your ideas, you stuff the ballot box with your baloney.

I see that Castle Rock is in Oxford County. Blame it on Stephen King.

Where's the cite? Your statement is completely made up. Maine has had same day registration for nearly 40 years. Surely there must be dozens and dozens of instances of voter fraud.

If there is so much alleged voter fraud, why is it not being prosecuted?

Do you have any sort of legitimate source for this? I can't find anything about it.

15 days prior to each local and statewide Election Day.

I'd be smart enough to register early enough if it was that important to me. This stuff isn't hard.

Well, it's been two days and while thewitt has posted in other forums, he has yet to cite his argument.
