When will it end? Blashphemy is a pathetic crime in the first place, but this just stretches the law to new bounds of stupidity.

Is the world becoming increasingly stupid, or is it just me?

When you let religion into government, this is the result.

Unfortunately many in the US are supporting this kind of mixing more and more.

All atheists should change their name to muhammad. Every time they speak against us, we press charges.

At least Pakistan has better freedom of speech than the US. ;)

How does that article prove that point?

It says that Pakistan rejected a ban on the wikileaks web site.

The US has not banned the wikileaks website.

I would consider free speech protections to be far greater in the US than in Pakistan.

Fixed that for you. This sort of crap will happen in any country where religion is used to make law.

Why do you constantly slam on the US? ... I would rather live in the US and have what you call "Lack of Freedom of Speech" than live in Pakistan and have someone sue me for flipping his business card in the Trash.

    ++

Do I? I think the US is a great place, and some of the nicest people I know are American. It just has a corrupt and interfering government - and I mostly 'slam' that.

I wouldn't want to live in either place.

Name one Government in the World that is not corrupt and interfering ... and if you truly believe there is one somewhere, maybe you are not looking hard enough ... or looking through rose colored glasses.

    Oh, they all are.

But not many have the power to influence others in quite the same way.

Anyway... this is off-topic. We're talking theocracies.

Did he say the US was unique in that regard, other than the fact that we have way more pull than any other country on international relations ?

Gotta love Islam! This is the type of stuff you expect from the Middle East.

Yup, and soon coming to a European nation near you! They kill off 6 million Jews and decide 53 million Muslims would make better neighbors. Genius. This is a perfect example of what Middle Eastern culture really is and really shows where they come from, sorry for being intolerant to the largest hate group known to man. There is only one country in the Middle East where things like things don't happen and that's Israel, and take a wild guess at who DOESN'T run that country.

Well ok, I would disagree with that, however that still in no way proves your assertion that Pakistan has better free speech protections than the US. The suggestion is just absurd. Those actions are the government attempting to censor classified information, information which is understood to not be available freely to begin with. Free speech protection in general is another matter, as it concerns all speech in general that by law should be allowed publicly.

In Pakistan if I were to post 'Muhammed is a bastard' and it was traced to my computer, I could be charged.

Can anyone tell me why Pakistan is considered an ally of "Western values" when Iran is vilified? Is it just that the Pakistani government does as it is told?

Pakistan received investment during cold war times. Meanwhile India became more chummy with the Soviets.
