Maxtor OneTouch III Not Recognized

I've been using a Maxtor OneTouch III 300 GB external with my Powerbook G4 for a long time now and have a lot of movies, all my music and a backup saved on it. It's been working fine until today when it stopped being recognized. I've tried unplugging it from the wall, using USB instead of firewire, switching firewire cables etc., but nothing is working. The light on the front used to flash, now when I turn it on the light goes on but does not flash. The power cord appears to be working and System Profiler recognizes that there is an unknown device connected, but nothing comes up in Disk Utility. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Try Resetting The PRAM


See if that works.
